To book your flight, you can head to any one of the major airline sites to search directly for flights, but chances are that you will not find the cheapest flight or most direct due to misunderstanding of proper connections and connection times. Often something is missed such as transfers, maybe gratuities, service charge fees, thing that maybe you thought were included but are not and it end up costing you more after your departure.

 

Booking travel on line is very similar to buying a computer, if you are buying the most basic, you will likely have no problems. Often we do not know what is missing until we plug it in and try to turn it on. Do you have firewall and virus protection, does it have a sound card or a video card. If you are booking a flight from point A to B to back to A, you maybe be okay, but is it on sale or are you buying in high season, is there something that should be done before you boot up.

 

Websites such as Travelocity, Expedia and others offer great search technologies but they have instituted a $5 fee for booking travel through their services and often their service fees are higher. If you are booking a trip with a rental car and hotel along with the airfare, this fee may be worth it in regard to 'one-stop-shop' convenience. But you will find some pricing on these travel sites, special service charges and higher taxes. It is very interesting when 2 different people are searching for the same holiday package and both are coming back with different packages and different prices. If a problem arises, where do you voice your concerns, so someone in Vancouver, Toronto or maybe in the USA, the person you booked with is unknown.

 

The reservation systems, are good for research and often a great way to help you get a better idea of the value of what your travel cost should be.
